I love all the textures in the sky! This is such an interesting question to ponder. Sometimes I love a scrappy sketch and feel like it's done, then sometimes I want to fill every square inch of a page with tons of layers. So I it depends on my mood. 😆 Brilliant idea to document it as you go!
Im loving the sketch and i think it was good it went as far as it did, but i voted for keep going because i felt some hints of lines with dark green in the green areas may have been interesting
Stages 4 and 5 are both wonderful, in different ways. There was something kind of dreamy and magical about Stage 4, but I can also see why you wanted to develop it further. It’s so hard to know when something is finished. Interesting technique!

Great way to start. You fussed with the trees in stage 5 which I felt distracted from the poppies.
